Living in this market economy, you get pretty cynical about everything being designed for planned obsolescence, which is especially frustrating when you’re trying to be ‘green’ and things like printer cartridges come specifically designed to *increase* waste. Just thinking about printing a job with my old inkjet stressed me out:
- Would I run out just when I needed it?
- How much would replacement cartridges cost?
- If I bought knock-offs, would the ink turn out to be rubbish?

Looking at this Continuink printer in front of me, mentally working out the difference between the thimble-fuls of ink in those old cartridges versus these giant tanks — plus knowing I can just refill them when they’re empty — is such a relief.

Yes, this printer cost a lot more than the semi-disposable ones, which is why I was cautious. So thanks, Jon and Parmi, for being so patient, and for sending out a sample printout of one of my files so I could see what the print quality was like. The sample looked great, and now that I’ve bought a printer, I’m happy enough with the quality to print the covers of my books with it.

Your business model seems to be based on doing the right thing, doing what the customer needs, which stands in stark contrast to the general print industry model of “Trick them as much as you can get away with”.

And to anyone reading this who’s still on the fence, I can tell you I was nervous about the purchase but am really satisfied with the printer I got (Continuink 585). I’d read a few reviews that made me concerned about the print quality being poor, but that isn’t my experience at all. In addition, this unit is smaller than my old printer and the controls are better designed.

I hope to be using this printer for a long time!
