When using a printer, particularly the officejet series from HP it is not a good idea to mix paper types in the printer. In our experience it can cause poor paper handling leading to catastrophic jams.

I certainly agree with you. My A3 Brother Inkjet almost always refuses to transport the second page if it’s of different quality/weight than the first page. I do find this inconvenient if, say, I want to print a two (or more) page document with the front (first) page being of a presentation nature – perhaps on higher quality company paper or with a colour logo, then with succeeding pages being of “normal” quality. The old fashioned non-laser printers in offices more than 25 years ago used to be equipped with a “leading page” paper tray and then a second tray with standard paper. This obviously hasn’t filtered down to machines used by small businesses!
